While aerospace manufacturers around the world struggle to understand and respond to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs and the prospect of an escalating trade war, Chinese eVTOL aircraft manufacturer EHang said it does not expect significant impacts on its operations despite sinking stock prices.


At the recent McKinsey Regional Air Mobility Summit in San Francisco, Bristow’s Dave Stepanek outlined why the helicopter operator has made such a big commitment to buying urban air mobility aircraft that have yet to be certified. As Bristow’s executive v-p and chief transformation officer, Stepanek is responsible not only for sourcing these aircraft but also figuring out how they fit into the company’s far-flung operations in 19 countries.



SkyDrive’s three-seat SD-05 eVTOL aircraft prototype made its first public demonstration flights during a media event ahead of the World Expo 2025 event in Osaka, Japan, on April 9. During the flight, which lasted about four minutes, the remotely piloted and highly automated aircraft reached an altitude of just over 16 feet, according to SkyDrive.


Bosch General Aviation Technology is backing Vaeridion’s plans to bring a nine-passenger, all-electric Microliner airplane to market by 2030. The offshoot from the German automotive group signed a memorandum of understanding with the Munich-based start-up on April 9 at Aero Friedrichshafen and will help with the electric drive technology.



Harbour Air is nearing the 100th flight of its electric eBeaver, which is powered by a MagniX propulsion system that includes the motor, control electronics, and cooling system. At the recent McKinsey Regional Air Mobility Summit, MagniX chief technology officer Riona Armesmith provided an update on the development of MagniX’s electric propulsion system and Harbour Air’s eBeaver, in which the original float-equipped de Havilland DHC-2’s Pratt & Whitney R-985 piston radial engine is replaced with a smooth-running, quieter, and easier-to-maintain electric powerplant.


Aura Aero has appointed three European dealerships for its Integral family of two-seat aerobatic and trainer aircraft, including the Integral E electric model. The new partners, announced on April 10 at the Aero Friedrichshafen show, will also market a corporate configuration of the 19-seat hybrid-electric ERA regional airliner the French start-up is developing.
