Supernal’s four-passenger S-A2 eVTOL aircraft is making its international debut at the Farnborough Airshow this week. For many, it will allow their first glimpse of a new mode of public transportation intended to break the tyranny of crowded roads in and around cities.


Vertical Aerospace has started powered ground testing with its second VX4 eVTOL prototype aircraft in preparations for flight tests that will begin once the UK Civil Aviation Authority has issued the required permit to fly. The UK company announced on July 23 that completed tests already include propeller balancing and spinning, with testing of the electric powertrain and batteries imminent.



Eve Air Mobility now has sufficient funding to support its eVTOL program through 2027, taking its cash runway beyond 2026, when it expects to start delivering the four-passenger aircraft. The Embraer spin-off confirmed on July 21 that an additional $1.6 million capital injection from Space Florida agreed upon last week took the total for its latest funding round to $95.6 million.


Australian start-up airline Wilbur Air plans to operate 100 of the five-passenger Integrity eVTOL aircraft under development by Spain's Crisalion Mobility. The companies announced an agreement covering the pre-orders for the battery-electric vehicles on July 24 at the Farnborough Airshow.


Lilium is expanding its “Power-On” aftermarket services portfolio, the German eVTOL aircraft manufacturer said at the Farnborough Airshow this week. Power-On provides a suite of digital solutions to ensure efficient and seamless operations of the Lilium Jet eVTOL. In partnership with several digital providers, Lilium intends to deliver a full gamut of offerings for all aspects of the daily operation of the aircraft, including flight planning, flight data monitoring, ground operations, and MRO services.


Australia’s South East Queensland (SEQ) region is expected to see early use cases for Wisk Aero’s Generation 6 eVTOL aircraft based on a partnership between the manufacturer and Skyports Infrastructure to develop vertiports. On July 22, the companies announced they are expanding their existing collaboration to identify locations for a network of air taxi services.


Joby Aviation is displaying its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air taxi at the Farnborough Airshow this week, where it is making its first European appearance. After more than a decade in development, the first production model of Joby's four-passenger urban air mobility vehicle, which has six tilting rotors for lift and thrust, rolled out in June last year.
