Beta Technologies has filed an S-1 form with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, giving notice of its intention to raise equity capital through an initial public offering. The filing on September 29 does not indicate when an unspecified number of Class A shares will be issued or give estimated pricing, but it does reveal some interesting aspects of the U.S. start-up’s ambitions beyond its current Alia family of electric aircraft.

International Airlines Group and aircraft engines and systems group Safran are among the main investors in the Series B funding round that raised £20.75 million ($28 million) for sustainable aviation fuel innovator OXCCU. The capital will support development of the UK start-up’s OX2 fuel manufacturing demonstration plant located at Oxford Airport, which is expected to be fully operational in 2026.

To support the development of its nine-passenger hybrid-electric EL9 Ultra Short aircraft, Electra has expanded the facilities at its headquarters in Manassas, Virginia, as well as its research and development center in Bleienbach, Switzerland. Announcing the recent expansions on September 30, the company noted that its workforce has more than doubled in 2025 and that it intends to hire dozens of engineers over the coming year.

Spanish eVTOL aircraft developer Crisalion Mobility has been facing an urgent, court-imposed deadline to secure new funding to restructure the start-up in the face of demands from creditors. On June 30, Commercial Court No 2 in Bilbao granted Crisalion a three-month extension to negotiate with its creditors over a restructuring plan.

Transportation officials in Scotland are evaluating the possibility of replacing aging ferries with seagliders being developed by U.S. start-up Regent Craft. Earlier this month, the Highlands and Islands Transport Partnership, which is backed by the Scottish government, launched a partnership with the manufacturer that could lead to the 12-passenger Viceroy vessel being deployed on maritime connections to and from islands and other remote communities.

XPeng AeroHT has released no further details regarding the crash involving two of its X3-F eVTOL aircraft at the Changchun Airshow in early September. On September 16, the Chinese company indicated to state-owned media outlet Yicai that the aircraft, which serve as the flying “air module” component of the Land Aircraft Carrier, collided during a formation rehearsal.

Achieving net-zero carbon aviation by 2050 is a generational challenge, according to a new initiative to coalesce young leaders across the industry. Emerging Leaders in Sustainable Aviation was launched earlier this month during the Generation 2050 panel as part of the ICAO General Assembly in Montreal. It aims to gather industry professionals 35 and younger in a common purpose that the group hopes will bear dividends over the course of their careers.

With its partner the Japanese airline ANA, Joby Aviation has become the latest eVTOL aircraft developer to demonstrate its vehicle at the Osaka World Expo.
